“Based on my own personal experience of recovery from illness I know the power and the benefits that art can have, I want to help share that with as many people as possible through my work”

My artwork is inspired by nature and by my surroundings in the North West of Ireland as well as my own experience of mental illness and recovery.

Through my creative practice I want to create more awareness and understanding for often misunderstood mental illness such as psychosis and help to shed the stigma around it.

Thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council Agility Award 2024 in late 2024 and early 2025 I will be exploring a new project ‘Recovery through Printmaking’ to develop my creative practice further and create a body of prints around the theme of recovery from mental illness.

100% of the proceeds from all purchases from the shop go towards the Expressive Minds arts and mental health project running creative arts workshops with other service users in the Sligo Leitrim Mental Health Service. These workshops are intended as a way for people to meet and engage with others who have experience of living with a mental health condition while feeling the therapeutic benefits that arts participation brings.
